To dress well i essential for a winter stay in Lapland.
This few advices will help you;
Longjohns are always needed, even if they are in cotton. In general, wool is the best choice close to your body. There are also syntethic alternatives. A warm sweater or fleece on your upper body is useful. If you do physical activities and the weather is not to cold, put the sweater in a backpack to avoid to get too warm. A cap on you head will be needed. If it is colder than – 5 Celsius you need a thicker and warmer cover for your head. The same goes for hand gloves. Warm and dry socks, preferably made of wool, will be needed for your feets. Sometimes in several layers. A buff or a scarf around your neck is comfortable. However, if you do physical activities, you can put away the scarf temporarly. A ski suit can work as a top cover. For low temperatures, or by snowmobiling, we recommend that you rent a complete top layer winter clothing from your local accommodation- or activity company. This especially goes for winter shoes. Suitable winter shoes can be difficult to find outside Scandinavia.
Remember that several layers are better than a few!
