The forest is quiet around you and the only sound you can hear is your footsteps accompanied by a gentle song of forest birds. The shadows are still long but the morning air is both warm and clear.
You look out over a lake, it looks like a mirror. Small ripples on the water surface reveals that the fish is awake and on the other side there is a couple of reindeer grazing on the marsh.
After a while you start the hike up to the top of the mountain. The view is amazing and in the clear air you see the mountain peaks in the distance and a golden eagle hunting for prey.

To hike in Arvidsjaur is not difficult. With a large numer of nature reserves and many untouched places can start your hike more or less just outside the hotel.
Forest Sami walked long distances and lived along with their reindeer herds and this has left the unique monuments in the landscape.
The annual trek to Arvidsjaur Church has also created their memories, the church path that starts at the old rectory leads the way in the wilderness and Nasaleden hiking-trail runs right through Arvidsjaur Municipality and was one of the most important road for transportation of the valuable minerals found in the mountains many hundreds of years ago.
Even though many trails and nature reserves are spread out in the region there there are still beuatiful hikes close to the city-centre thas is nothing but boring. Kyrkstigen, the church-path goes in a loop near the city center and offers beautiful views of the marsh and ponds, Vittjåkksleden takes you on an adventure that begins near the city-centre of Arvidsjaur and ends at Vittjåkks bare top. Once there are several hiking trails in the nature reserve Vittjåkk-Akkanålke.
